Man shot over a piece of chicken

A 29-year-old man was shot and wounded on both legs after a confrontation over a piece of chicken at around 19h00 on Wednesday at Tsandi in Omusati region.

According to the crime report issued by the Omusati police regional commander, commissioner Titus Shikongo, the suspect bought chicken Iishwali location in Okamalindi village and refused to share with the victim.

The victim was identified as Iipinge Kristian, from Okalale village in Tsandi constituency.

The report said the Kristian started insulting the 42-year-old suspect and followed him around as the suspect moved from one place to another to avoid the victim.

The suspect went to his car and Kristian allegedly followed and slapped him.

“The suspect got out of his car and the victim picked bricks and chased the suspect around.

“The suspect then drew a pistol and shot the victim on both legs,” said the report.

The suspect is said to have used his licenced pistol to shoot Kristian who was transported to Okahao state hospital. His condition was described as serious but stable.

The suspect is from Okamalindi village in Tsandi constituency. He was arrested after he handed himself to the police and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
