Industry cries foul over $18b package

ZIMBABWE’S hard-pressed industries have slammed the government for failing to deliver on the promised $18 billion stimulus package meant to boost the struggling economy.

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube announced the package in May, saying it will help companies and other stakeholders to ride out Covid-19 induced storms.

However, the Henry Ruzvidzo-led Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) said the government’s package was a “hypothetical” scheme that is not backed by corresponding liquidity.
